A 120,000m2 retail and leisure mall in Ekaterinburg, which forms a key part of the regeneration and expansion of the city.

A reinvention of the retail malls prevalent throughout the city, VEER replaces the traditional, single-entrance box design with a dynamic, multi-level development. The design seeks to transport people from their every day lives into a new retail and leisure destination. A relationship between the internal and external space is created, as the pedestrian streets surrounding the building are extended inwards, through multiple entrances. A series of naturally lit pathways around the mall imitate walking through the city. A glazed roof follows the concourse around the retail scheme, allowing visitors to feel as though they are outside, but with protection from the external weather. The mall accommodates are range of leisure activities as well as a venue for public events, fashion shows and music performances.

The vision for the external form is to create a landmark identity more akin to a major public building to attract retailers and the public.
